So, let's hope that third is the worst of all the game . . .
It turns out that a C-section isn't the END OF THE WORLD, as I had first assumed. People can survive apparently and I did. I was feeling pretty good-showered, hair, make-up and walks but then my right foot swelled to 4 times the size of my left (I really should have gotten a picture) and my leg hurt to walk . . . turns out I have a blood clot. I thought you had to be at least fifty before you even started talking about blood clots, but apparently 29 is old enough. Pregnancy and surgery can do it to you at any age. Next, I came home to a high temperature and bladder infection. The next morning I woke up to an infection in my incision.
The infections are under control now so that feels better. But I have Ansen, my husband who is an accountant, not a Dr., giving me shots twice a day for the blood clot. Maybe it'd be okay, but I am a HUGE baby about needles and Ansen seems to enjoy it (plus 5 days of shots cost me $492, after insurance-small price to pay for LIFE I guess, right?) I am allowed to walk, but should keep my swelling under control and only if it doesn't cause pain (which it does for now). I'm on a blood thinner pill which I have to work with a clinic to figure out my correct dosage. That means daily blood tests (more needles) for a couple of weeks. Plus next pregnancy (assuming there is one . . . Ansen sees this as an obvious stopping point) I get to do the shots everyday for the whole pregnancy! Oh, and I get to wear a compression sock on my right leg for most of the summer . . . Cute.
Still, I feel so fortunate that that was all since things can ALWAYS be worse and I got to come home with my happy, healthy baby. And I would do it all again tomorrow for him! I can't be more thankful to live close to family! My mom and Lisa took the girls all week, my mom cleaned my house, Lisa brought me dinner, my dad did yard work with Ansen. And lastly, I LOVE my AMAZING husband who is here doing everything for all of us! And now my incredible ward is stepping in with babysitting and dinners. I am again reminded of how generous and kind people are.
Here is the beginning of 2 older sisters . . . hair, painted nails, dress up . . .
As for vacation is 3 weeks, we're still just playing it by ear, but we did get all of our passports in the mail while I was in the hospital. First stop after discharge from the hospital - Costco - for a passport picture of Drew. His passport is being expedited, so we'll see how things are going. I think I'm crazy.

OH my heavens sakes! Things we do for childbirth! So glad to hear you are on the mend. He is so adorable!
Oh wow... I am so sorry!! I wasn't in church on Sunday because I was dealing with a much more minor crisis, so I hadn't heard!! I can completely relate to complications... you know my crazy C-section story... but a blood clot is not one I've had to deal with and oh, I am so very sorry!! I'll tell Katrena the same, but if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me directly!!
You poor, poor thing! Yes, things could always be worse, but this soudns pretty bad. I'm glad you're doing a little better and that Drew is doing well. He is such a cutie! I can't wait to meet him.
Oh my glory he is cute! I am glad that you are OKAY! That is so incredible! The things we do for our kids :) I wish you all the best- can't wait to see this boy!
Oh Ashleigh, I'm so sorry! Hopefully that vacation pans out because you definitely deserve one after all of that! Wishing you a very speedy recovery!
Ash, I am so sorry things have not been going well! It sounds like a nightmare, not to mention a fashion crisis with the compression sock!! I'm glad you are (mostly) ok!
I'm sorry I haven't called you yet-Hudda had his tonsils out on Wednesday and the recovery is pretty rough...I'm dying to get down there and visit you all!
Hopefully in the next 2 weeks!
Ashleigh, I cannot believe all that you have gone through. I hope you are doing okay and I hope you know that you can call if you need anything at all. I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery from all of the ailments of having baby number three. He is totally adorable. Congrats on his safe arrival.
Well, Ashleigh I feel you. I developed a blood clot in my leg years ago from birth control pills (side effect if you ever read the lables) and I got them again when I was pregnant with Lincoln. I had 3 in one and 1 in the other. I had to be on heperin the whole pregnancy and give myself two shots a day too. So fun, my bellie looked like I had be beaten with a base ball bat! Then I had a c-section and they had to put these things on my legs to keep the air flowing. Anyway, needless to say I always freak out when I get a pain in my leg and I'm not sure about a second child....we'll see! But you're baby is so dern cute it's all worth it!
Wow, I am so sorry to hear all that!! Is there anything I can do for you? Give me a call, lets have the girls come over and play so that you and the baby can rest!
Wow - what a whirlwind of activity! I am SO glad you're doing ok, and I have to say Drew is adorable! Let me know when the ward is done with meals - I'd love to bring one by.
