I noticed this as we were getting ready to leave dinner . . .

I was sewing in the basement while Addison and a friend were playing. 

They had divided up all the play money and were buying toys.  The friend ran out of money and wanted to start buying things with a credit card.

"You can't do that because a credit card is the same as cash.  You have to have money to pay your credit card or you can't use your credit card."

When the friend suggested that she could pay money later . . .

"No, you have to pay it at the end of every month, not just wait until you get more money because you might never get more money to pay your credit card."

I was proud. 

I know she's at a complete disadvantage in this game, but if she'll remember this principle, she'll be at a complete advantage in life. 

Spring Soccer

Is it okay that I say it out loud? 

 I really do not feel bad that it snowed for 2 of our games this season,

they were cancelled and never re-scheduled. 

With that being said, the girls really enjoy soccer.

 And I don't let my view point dampen their spirits since it's just something I keep in my head. 

This season Banna is paying $1 per goal. Half way through she had to change the requirements for Olivia. $1 per kick of the ball and Liv is still struggling to stay focused on the game. The game that is going on in front of her, the game she's standing right in the middle of.

When Banna called the morning of their first games, Addison got off the phone and said . . .

"Banna and Branda must have a lot of money and nothing to do with it . . . "

Yep, that $10 might break the bank.

 

 I do love some good soccer pictures with the bright colors and the "looks of summer."

Talking with Addison . . .

Me: What did you get me for my birthday?
Addie: Oh, you'll love it. Just a pass to 7 Peaks and then some really nice camo boots from Cabelas.

She developing a sense of humor that really is funny . . . it's got some sarcasm just like mine so we get eachother.




Addison explaining to Ansen and I about a little boy in her class . . .

"he's kind of like Drew - behind a little."

(there was concern about Drew's lack of rolling and movement at his last appointment) Ansen and I died laughing because she just said it so funny and it flowed right with the conversation.

We delivered some gifts the other night that we left on the doorstep and I had to run back to the car . . .

Addison: Wow, I didn't think that was going to work because I didn't know if Mom could run!

Upon a little further discussion, she did mean in the snow and ice.

Addison-

Grandma C: Addie, what are you thinking?

Addison: I don't think much on Saturdays.

Jeff: Addison, what do you want to be when you grow up?

Addison: A scientist.

Jeff: Plant or animal?

Addison: Not animal because then I would have to pick up rattle snakes. So a potions one.

Jeff: A potions scientist . . . ?

(So is that a chemist or a professor at Hogwarts?)

Big day for comments . . . .

Me: Addison, I'm finally fat and really big. I can't hardly put my own shoes on!

Addison: Maybe we need to find a diet for you.

And later, an idea . . .

Addison: Maybe Olivia and I could drive in the Barbie Jeep and you could kind of jog by us for some exercise.

Out on a walk . . .

Addison: It smells like hamburgers.

Olivia: (Smelling the air) I can smell somting. It smells like pumpkin pie.

Addison: Ummm Mom. I think we better get out of bed because last time I watched this much of Clifford I was almost late for school.

Oh, but don't worry my dear . . . you have NO SCHOOL for 2 weeks! The 3 of us laid in my bed for 45 minutes watching TV, had waffles, watched a movie, shoveled lots of snow, drank hot chocolate, put together the neighborhood gifts, the girls played "ballet class" for an hour, we had chicken noodle soup for dinner, and finished Ansen's work gifts.

I miss that everyday used to be like this . . . just home with my girls (without school and schedules)! And then we all had to grow up.

Olivia . . .

Olivia: Mom, do I luf you?

Me: Yes, you do.

Olivia: Mom, do I luf Daddy?

Me: Yes, you do.

Olivia: Mom, do I luf Addie?

Me: Yes, you do.


Addison . . . in her prayers.

Please help me to use my brain a lot and not forget to use it.

Addison:

There's a boy in my class named Avery. He's a boy, not a girl named Avery. We were playing at the kitchen and someone told Avery to be the brother. Avery said, " No it's PRU-THER." And I thought, "ummmm, oh -my -gosh, someone needs to tell this boy it's BROTHER." But I didn't say that out loud.

Addison, 5 years

Grandma: I can't take it anymore, I keep getting a brain freeze.

Addison: I'm not getting a brain freeze because my brain is smaller than yours.

Back to School night with Addison . .

Me: What did you think about your new teacher?

Addie: At first when I saw her I thought she was a Grandma.

Me: She probably is a Grandma.

Addie: Well, but then I looked at her and she just has wrinkles like you. So I don't think so.

. . . about Stephenie Meyer's new book Breaking Dawn. . .

Addison: You know what I think is funny mom?

Me: What Addison?

Addison: She wrote the book from Jasob's expecta (perspective) and not all Bella's expecta. We're all used to reading it from Bella's expecta so people just don't like reading Jacob or Edward's expecta.

Me: Oh, is that what you think?

Addison: Yes, don't you?

I guess she heard me on the phone last night.

(By the way . . . finished the book. Reading is always "feast or famine"for me and I had to finish so I could be back to life and work by first thing Monday morning.)

Me: Dad and I are going on a date tonight . .

Addison: But you're already married.

Note to self: Try to go on more dates (with Ansen).

I've been in Oregon again for my Grandpa's funeral and Addison updated me on things last night . . .

Addison: We went shopping all over for you anniversary present. We looked and I think that we're going to get you cologne, but it's a secret.

Me: Well, didn't you just tell me the secret?

Addison: No, because we didn't buy it yet so it's not a secret yet.

Ansen and Addison were reading a newspaper article about a bald eagle that got bonic beak. Ansen was explaining that bald eagles were becoming extinct.

Well, what about the hairy eagles? Are they extinct?
