Babes, Baseball and BYU

Jackie and Katie were in town bringing Katie out to BYU the week we were closing on the house and moving in.

We were super busy, but it turned out they were super busy too.

A little rivalry love . . . (Katie is a dumb Red Sox fan).

We did make it to a Bee's game and got some time together amist the chaos.

And now we get Katie all year!

Lake Powell 2014

I knew the trip was going to go well, when Mom and Dad needed to stop at the gas station for a drink.  This is a real rarity to begin with, but when Mom came out with a drink too, I knew it was going to be a party.

Traditional stop in Beaver for a picture and some Dairy Queen.

It was a mini goal of mine to learn how to captain the boat this year.  Or at least become more experienced.  I exceuted some ins, outs and deck hover (really professional captain terminology - the average reader wouldn't understand).

PA (a.k.a. Michael Anne) came with us.  There were a few times we almost let it slip that we weren't a true boating family - I'm not sure if she noticed, but those sunglasses made her bring her A game anyway.

My little crew.

Tubing.

Dance Break.

Tubing again.

It got a little "chilly" when the sun went down or we were in the shadows, but the never ever stopped these 3 from getting in.

And Drew learned to swim on his own . . . swimming means floating in a life jacket, not clinging for dear life to some one's neck.

Unfortunately, our life jackets were buried in the storage unit somewhere so we had to buy 3 new life jackets in the exact same sizes . . .

But it was all worth it (obviously).

She has embraced that she gets sun burned easy - so she is my hat wearing princess.

Dinner with Sherman and Addie.

The Bully on the boat
The best chimmis ever
Attractive people have ugly children
"We've been doing this for 13 years - when you've done this for 13 years . . . " - Jeff
HoHungry
"I've been nothing but pleasant this whole trip" - Micheal Ann
The ashtray Diet Coke
Just a little "battery" troubles
"I don't need a styrofoam cup - it won't last that long" - Dad (about his soda)
A "dip in" = a pee break
Clown Pockets - Matt
Just how we like it - ladder down
Trying not to let PA catch onto us NOT being a boating family
Dad does not take orders from Liv

And all good things come to an end.

Cookies and Photo Bombs

During the summer we volunteered to make cookies for a wedding.

We made cookies that had to be frosted and so frosting skills had to be evaluated.

Only Addie pasted the presentation test, but she had just got home from swimming.  So they ate their trial cookie and Banna and I frosted the rest.

It's still too early to tell . . .

but this might be a family tradition.

One camping trip per year to the Palasades.

We do sleep in a tent, we do take laterns, we do sit by other people's fires, we do get rained on (both years), and we do eat s'mores . . .

but we grab subway on the way, eat muffins for breakfast, run into town for lunch, Ansen golfs all morning, we walk around in our pajamas and flip flops, there are bathroom and grass . . . but we call it camping.

I didn't get any "in action" shots, but I rented this paddle boat a 8 in the morning and didn't see the girls again until 4:30 . . . well I could see them and they had life jackets on . . . but they were out on the lake having a blast.

I played games, talked and drank diet coke all afternoon . . . and didn't think 2 seconds about any work . . . maybe I love camping . . . hmmmm.

And then we took the left over s'mores and enjoyed them back at home.

And got chocolate on our faces (good one Jeff).

We're planning on next year so maybe after 3 years in a row we call it a tradition?

Happy Birthday Mr. Potter

Because we don't eat near enough treats around here, everyone loves cake and more specifically . . .

- We love Harry Potter -

We celebrated another Harry Potter birthday.

We give the girls creative license . . . and it's that the best when you're a kid.

My little HP nerds.

(Olivia is not smiling her best because she felt like the picture
she only be of those that decorated the cake . . . )

Lake Powell 2013 - yes, last year

Before we get to Lake Powell 2014, I have to catch up with Lake Powell 2013 . . .

Lake Powell 2013 (less Ansen for this picture)

Addie learned to ski.  She tried her little heart out with such a good attitude!

And a little theme for this year was goggles . . .

We were all into goggles this year and after it was said and done, I think we only came home with 1 or 2.

The rest of them are at the bottom of Lake Powell with my swim shorts from 2005.

RIP - all of those goggles and my blue shorts

Lake Powell really is incredible!
There is nothing at all like it and pictures will never do it justice.

The real go-getters went fishing while the rest of us slept in.

I love this little toothless smile (and Lisa's big toothy smile).

And another picture of that toothless smile since it's all just teeth now.

And on our last morning we stayed close to relax and . . .

we talked Branda into tubing for a little while.
