Okay, so we love that Ansen has a job and I love it even more that he really loves what he's doing there and that he really enjoys the people he works with, but . . . the hours are killing me.
Three weeks ago, he came home from work at 7 am on Sunday morning working almost 24 hours straight. It might have otherwise been bearable, but it was the last weekend of taxes for me and it made it a little tricky. On Saturday, he came home at lunch to get the kids and took them back to work with him to watch movies in the conference room and hope the "change of scenery" did the job for keeping them busy (it worked . . . they loved it). He brought them home for dinner, I put them to bed and then worked until until 4, sweet little boy woke up at 6 and Ansen came home at 7.
It hasn't just been one bad weekend though, it's been crazy since January. Late nights, and early, early mornings. But I will say this . . . (and this makes a BIG difference)
Even after all the long hours, he still comes home happy. And "happy" makes all the difference.
Now we just need to figure out a way for me to come up from the basement "happy"
(and figure out how to work less, a lot less).
On a side note, I sewed for 2 hours that Sunday . . . in the basement with the kids while they played and we chit chatted . . . I couldn't believe how therapeutic it was! And one of these days I'm going to blog about all the things I've been sewing.
Here's the kind of things (and lots, lots more that are just "un-captured") that start happening though when we get busy:
Drew chooses these shoes (and no one has time to argue).
These are the groceries I bought the day before.
The refrigerated items got into the fridge within the first few hours.
This would also indicate that I didn't need my kitchen counter for meal preparation or anything. There's an apple core and the sprinkles are out, so we must have had something good . . . maybe.
Olivia gets to dress herself in outfits like these on raining, non-gymnastic days.
Yes, she's posing because she loves this outfit.
(Love those scarey WHITE legs . . . sorry babe)
I did this to Drew, I set him up a comfy bed, with his "beany" (binky), in front of a movie . . . undressed.
Oh and here he is again, but this day he fell asleep . . . score.

Lunch at Cafe Rio, on our way to pick up carpool kids from school at 2:30 . . . they were starving!
2:30 is late for little kids. Then we were late for pick up so I had to swing by Kneaders with carpool for cookies so that I wasn't the worst mom on the planet.
There is DEFINITELY worse ways to live, and we do survive right?!
