Labor Day

Labor Day began as our traditional breakfast up the canyon or at the park  . . .

But the power kept tripping, 1/2 the outlets didn't work, Dad had already ran to Walmart twice for extension cords and such, and we just couldn't cook our planned feast . . .

so we abandoned the park and came to our new - only in for 2 days - house.  And good thing Mom had brought everything prepared to cook at the park because my kitchen amenities were just as helpful as the park's would have been.

A Miracle

This is literally a miracle . . .

Olivia is reading of her own volition . . .

on her own . . .

and she's enjoying it . .  .

Olivia has been going to a reading tutor, Sister Peterson, for almost a year and wonders have happened!   We have diligently read with her and we're so excited about the progress she's making!

Miss President

We call her Prez now.

Addie was elected as sixth grade class President.

It was a little tense and there were a few tears, but all experiences are good experiences.  We learned that no ever succeeds that doesn't try.

She was just following in her Mom's footstepts -
who was also Sixth grade class president.

Grandma Sharp sent congraulatory balloons!

AND . . .  Addie and Olivia got to go to Women's Conference this year, so Banna came over and we made it a date.

Addie is a hard worker and I love how motivated she is!

First Day of School 2014 - Round 2

We made the finalized decision to have Drew go to Pre-School 1 more year.

I've been coming up with all the reasons in the book for years as to why I wanted to keep him home.  We went out with my school physcologist friend (so she's a professional in this field).  She made me feel better and said I can just say - it is my preference that he is older.

So - it is my preference that Drew is older when he starts school and so we started year 3 of Pre-School.

He's going to Busy Bee Pre-School with Miss Michelle.
He is happy to be the only one that knew both is first AND last name, he's the tallest and he's "Miss Michelle's best helper!"

Plus I get him home with me for one more year.

He was fine until he realized that his best bud, Eden,
was going to kindergarten THIS year.

But peace was restored when he realized he'd be going to Kindergarten with Lucy.

Back to 1988 . . .

We got into Rollerblading this Fall.  We had mine and Heather's old rollerblades and then Heather picked up enough roller blades at garage sales for the rest of them.

And they've been at it all Fall.

I wish I had pictures of the beginning when Drew and Eden spent the whole time clinging to my car in the driveway, crawling around the cold-de-sac, and knocking each other down.

We had to designate specific "roller blading" clothes because it was ruining the knees in all his new school clothes.

They're profesh now and go straight down the driveway . . . and up.

Drew even picked out a special prize at pre-school . . . a rollerblade sticker.

First Day of School 2014

Addie - off to her last, first day of elementary school (tear) in Miss Weather's class.

And Olivia off to 3rd grade, where the grading is a little more real, you do lunch with the big kids and tardies are starting to count in Miss Allen's class.

We didn't do perfect matchy- matchy like we did last year,
but we did color coordinate (not on purpose actually).

And all that attitude is off for someone else to deal with all day.
Just kidding - never a bad behavior report for either of them.

BEFORE

AFTER
Still smiling.

And still sassy.

Summer Time - Part 2

Thanksgiving Point Farm:  Luckily Drew got invited to a bday party at the Farm or I'm not sure we would have ever made it - poor baby of the family.

Cold De Sac of Fire:  We went to our second year of the Cold De Sac of fire for the 24th of July.  They collect money from the neighborhood, we do potluck treats, a live band and the biggest fireworks show ever(ish).

Benefit 2 billion of living at Banna and Branda's:  Hot tubbing! Anytime, anyday.

Chris Came to Visit:  At some point Chris came to visit and Liv was deadset on getting a picture with him.  She is so happy with her "The Livster" nickname he gave her years ago.

Water Party:  We went to CC's water party with the best food and some fun friends.  The simple things are fun.

Exhausted:  We spent a good portion of our summer in the car.  Exhaustion sets in easy in the car.

Hanging out with the girls:  Drew does lots and lots and lots of hanging out with the girls.

Lunch with Sister Sharp: This was actually earlier than Summer, but it was one of our last lunches with Grandma Sharp before her mission ended and she headed home to Oregon.  It was great having her so close for a time.

School Tid Bits - Oldies

I I hadn't given birth to her, I would wonder if she was actually my child .  She, with very little help, memorized The Pledge of Allienge, The Star Spangled Banner, the States and their capitals, The Gettysburg Address, the presidents (in order), and The Preamble.  The fifth graders have a chance to earn The Great American Award at her school and she did it.

A little twist on the field day activities . . .

The Easter/Spring classroom party for Olivia was a fun one.  I wasn't in the classroom near as much this year with both the girls since we were living in Orem and it was killing me, but I'm glad I got to do a few parties for both of them.

And nothing to do with school . . . but I didn't want to forget the Bunnicula rolls my mom made for Easter.   Pinterest Fail.

Addie and Allie working on their store for the 5th grade business fair.  They sold popcorn, raffled off a Miche bag, threw darts at One Direction, sold sherbet floats and they ended up the store that was in second place for most money made.  They were just under what the group of 5 people together made.   Kind of a fun project.
