Daddy-Daughter Dance

It was a 50's themed sock hop for the Daddy-Daughter Dance and luckily we had a poodle skirt from Halloween! Addison was so excited all week and sad little Olivia was devastated to have to stay home with Mom. Since Addison put on her old Halloween costume so did Olivia. She got all ready to go to the dance as Tinkerbell. As soon as Addison and Ansen left and she realized she really wasn't going she couldn't get her costume off fast enough in pure bitterness. Addison had a ball dancing with her Dad and all her friends from school and the ward. Olivia an I managed at home with a movie and ice-cream.

Addison turned 6 this year! It started with waffles and Krispie Creams for her school class. Then lunch at JCW's with Banna, Mom, Livvy, and Lisa with 2 HUGE shakes that we made sure did not go to waste even though we were all stuffed.

Then family dinner (club sandwiches) and cake and ice-cream.



And the best part of course . . . presents!


Addison really wanted a snorkel set. We have this outstanding joke/story about Jeff. One time he was taking a shower (in his defense-years ago) and Ryan saw him run out to his room and then back to the shower with his snorkel gear including flippers. Addison has always thought that sounded like the perfect idea . . . the shower, mom and dad's bathtub, the swimming pool . . . endless possibilities. So, she got her own snorkel set this year. Plus headbands made by Lisa, polly pockets, cute clothes and more cute clothes, a new swimsuit, a personalized birthday book with her name in it, play dough ice-cream set, moon sand, a bead and necklace kit, and a sticker book. Life is good!



A couple of days later Banna and I took 6 giggling, shrieking girls and the side kick (Ollie) to Monsters vs. Aliens, then home for Pizza, ice-cream cake, and presents.

Happy Birthday Addison! You're a third of the way to college and the time is going WAY too fast!

They flied Mom!!

So, we love the chickens! Really a low maintenance pet, so far. We've named 3 of the 4 . . . Big Mama (Olivia), Snuggles and Betsy (Addison). Luckily, it's Spring Break so Addison and Olivia can monitor them ALL day long! Addison demonstrates every move they make (and that part is exhausting since I have to be totally interested with everything). Olivia reports to me every time "they flied." But they love them. We get them out twice a day to play with them and they're both professional chicken handlers now.

Side Benefit: It's like Spring all day long (even with the snow) since I can

hear birds chirping the ENTIRE day.

Olivia needs a little help with her handling because I think she's going to squeeze one to death. She keeps saying, "I want the baby one! Put it in my hand and I smash it (so it can't fly)." Perfect.

Please ignore that I'm wearing winter themed PJ pants, an attractive shirt and to finish off . . a non-matching coat (not the that shirt was matching either).

I'm pregnant AND it's the 15th-TAX D-DAY!

I've totally surprised myself, because this is so not me. . . I have 4 chickens living in my kitchen and I'm still all for it.

Easter

Addison opted to have the Easter Bunny come to Grandma's house after church rather than our house before church as long as "he could get there on time and not make her wait in the basement or something. " (Guilty in previous years)

Next, the traditional treasure hunt (a family tradition I participated in well into my mid 20's). Though Addison could read the clues, and Olivia seemed excited, they didn't get the TREASURE part of the hunt and so we were in NO hurry what so ever.

I've been planning these little Easter Chickens for months, and it was so built up in my mind that I was sure it would be a disappointment when it actually happened. But no, there was no disappointment. We love the Chicks!
