As parents we messed up one night (I can't remember the details) but we had to break it to the kids that we had never been parents before and we actually had no idea what we were really doing. 

It evolved into a conversation of repentance and just doing our best.

We knew we had really hit home when Olivia said  -

"I know I'm bad at something.  I try and I try, I don't know why but I always use too much jam on my toast in the morning and I'm working on that."
